When  Tuesdays–Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  
Time  Start as early as 9 a.m., and finish as late as 4:30 p.m. The duration of your visit is dependent upon the size of your group. An approximate fieldtrip schedule is listed to the right. Smaller group schedules can be modified to end earlier.  
Number of
We can accommodate groups of 15 to 180. Schools with less than 60 students will rotate to each of the three destinations together. Schools with more than 60 students will be divided into two or three equally sized groups. Each of the groups will start at a different destination to begin their rotation.
Admission to three fieldtrip destinations and lunch are just $24 per student! Teachers and chaperones get free admission to all fieldtrip destinations and pay only $6 each for lunch. (Please note: Deposit of 50% required at time of booking. Schools receive full refund if cancelled four weeks out. Only 25% of deposit will be refunded if cancelled less than four weeks out.)  
Lunch Lunches include either a turkey or ham sandwich (salad available for special requests), a fresh fruit cup, chips and drink (choose from Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or bottled water). Final numbers are required four business days before fieldtrip date and will be the number of lunches charged to the group. Additional lunches are $6 per person. 

Program details


Each group will spend two hours (one hour if 60 students or fewer) at each destination touring and participating in programming. Programs are grade level appropriate, and information about each destination can be obtained by visiting each website to explore their options: 


Sci-Port will take all the reservation information for your group and coordinate with the other partners. Sci-Port will serve as the fiscal agent for the entire transaction. Make checks payable to Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center. Payment is due when you arrive (regardless of which location you begin your fieldtrip, the first group to visit Sci-Port will pay for the entire reservation). The Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau will provide you with a package of hotels and restaurants in the area for discounts specifically designed for the Joint Fieldtrip Adventure if you wish. Please let the Sci-Port contact know that you need this information.
  The Shreveport-Bossier Convention & Tourist Bureau can also provide a welcome packet with a list of additional things to do in the Shreveport/Bossier area for those needing to stay overnight. Visit their site at or call 1-888-45-VISIT for more information about the local area. When booking your fieldtrip, please have the following information ready:
  1. Contact information: Lead educator or teacher's name, school/organization name, address, main phone number, fax number and your email address.
  2. Attendee information: Grade level(s), number of students, number of teachers and number of chaperones. A minimum of one chaperone for every ten students is required. Chaperones must escort students throughout their visit to each location.
  3. Dates and times: Have three possible dates that you can visit us! (Three different calendars must be coordinated and your first choice may not be available.) Know your planned arrival time and departure time.
  4. Programming: The Multicultural Center of the South and the artspace have programs based on their current exhibitions or themes. Sci-Port also offers programs based on current exhibitions, as well as standard programs! You will need to choose a total of 60 minutes of programming (one sixty minute program or two thirty minute programs) by reviewing the choices on our Programs Catalog page.
  5. Special needs: Please notify us of any special needs your students may have so that we may accommodate you. 
  6. Lunch order: Specify the total number of each sandwich (turkey or ham) and total number of each drink (soda or water) for your lunch order. Final numbers are required 4 business days before fieldtrip date and will be the number of lunches charged to the group.
