Outreach Exhibits & Programs

Since opening in its current location in 1998, Sci-Port has seen more than 3,000,000 people walk through its doors to enjoy the fun, interactive, educational experience that makes us one of the top science centers in the United States. But, because not every school, class, festival or fair can make the trip to Sci-Port, Sci-Port offers a robust outreach catalog, allowing us to bring our unique brand of science fun to you!

Whether you are organizing outreach to reach your entire school (Pre-School–12th), a single lab using hard-to-find equipment, or a unique calling card to make your festival, fair or family reunion more memorable, we are confident that one of the following options will suit your needs. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, let us know and we will happily tailor an experience to suit both your audience and your budget.

Science Carnival Outreach Exhibits

Watch your classroom curriculum come alive when we bring science and math or space science exploration galleries to you through our Science Carnival Outreach. Choose between two themes, Gee Whiz! (1st-8th) or Space Journeys (5th-12th), and let us take care of the rest. Sci-Port staff provides a preparatory teachers' workshop, resource materials, student-involved demonstrations and a structured environment for classes to interact with the exhibits.

Exhibit Explorations
Our Gee Whiz! and Space Journeys Outreach exhibits can be mixed and matched to create the experience to transform any school or community event. Sci-Port can provide 1-8 cubes and can serve up to 500 people in a five hour period. Our exhibit exploration can also be paired with your choice of activity add-ons.

STARLAB® Planetarium
Bring our STARLAB® portable planetarium and trained staff to your school or event space. The planetarium can be set up in an hour and can accommodate groups of up to 30 for 30-minute presentations.

Sci-Port is equipped to provide your students with an introduction to robotics and programming. We will supply the robots, the computers and the instruction required to quickly get your students working towards whichever challenge you choose! Our Robotics programs are best suited for students in grades 4 and higher, and are designed to serve classes up to 30 each hour.
Is your class more advanced or looking to move beyond the basics into more advanced programming? Just let us know how we can help!

Our Outreach Labs consist of hands-on interactive programs designed to engage and motivate students to explore science concepts, ask questions and solve problems. All programs are correlated to the Louisiana State Standards. Basic Lab programs are 30 minutes long and Extended Lab programs are 60 minutes long.

Outreach Demonstrations offer fun, exciting, educational programs designed to spark interest and curiosity in students about different science topics that have been appropriately adapted for your group’s age level. All Outreach demonstrations are correlated to Louisiana State Standards and last from 30-45 minutes long.

Itty Bitty Scientists
Itty Bitty Outreach is a fun, traveling science program designed for Little Learners! Your class will get the chance to become Itty Bitty Scientists and explore the world of science from chemistry to marine biology and everything in between within a 30 minute interactive educational program.

Table Top Fun
Our interactive table top science activities are the perfect way to brighten any festival, fair, or other school or public event, whether you are hoping to reinforce a particular science topic or to simply create a fun, educationally-valid experience! Table Top Fun activities come in two categories: standard programs and those with a more supply-intensive make-it-take-it component.
